Bedol now a wanted man

- Jaime Laude -

Former Maguindanao provincial election officer Lintang Bedol finds himself once again a fugitive after eluding arrest following his conviction by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for contempt.

Police elements dispatched by Autonomous Region For Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Chief Superintendent Joel Goltaio to serve an arrest warrant for Bedol at his Cotabato City residence on Wednesday failed to locate him.

Goltiao said the arresting officers were informed that Bedol had already left his place for an unknown destination at dawn of Oct. 20.

Bedol, on preventive suspension over alleged elections anomalies in Maguindanao, was convicted by the Comelec for contempt and sentenced to six months in jail.

“We served the warrant last Oct. 31 but Bedol left his house early morning of Oct. 20, two days prior to the issuance of the warrant of arrest,” Goltiao said.

Goltiao said Bedol was never seen again in the place since he left his residence.

Police intelligence operatives have been dispatched to several places, including Metro Manila, to locate the controversial election officer.

“We are continuously doing our intelligence efforts to locate him (Bedol),” Goltiao said.
