Erap to visit FPJ tomb

- James Mananghaya -

Former President Joseph Estrada is expected to visit the tombs of his departed loved ones, including his bosom buddy, the late action king Fernando Poe Jr., on All Saints’ Day.

It would be the first time since he was detained six years ago that he would be able to go to the San Juan public cemetery, where his father Emilio Ejercito Sr. is buried.

He is also expected to go to Poe’s tomb at the Manila North Cemetery.

Ferdie Ramos, Estrada’s media relations officer, told The STAR that Estrada will probably be given additional police security at the Manila cemetery.

Estrada, who was freed from detention at his Tanay, Rizal resthouse last Oct. 26, has been shying away from interviews, while police security personnel assigned to him prevent journalists from getting close to the former president.

According to Ramos, the pardoned leader is still “groping for the right words to say.”

Ramos added that Estrada is still trying to weigh things before he speaks to media.

But in a telephone interview, the former chief executive told The STAR that he is doing okay and that he is not yet granting requests for interviews because he wants more time to rest.

Reporters are also barred from covering him in his posh residence at Polk St. in North Greenhills, San Juan.
