ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Justice (DOJ) will amend the complaint against the suspects behind the beheading of 10 Marines in Basilan last July to include the Abu Sayyaf bandit recently captured by the police in the province, officials said.
Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesman Maj. Eugene Batara said the DOJ will amend the charge sheet against the suspects to include Janatin Madjakin.
Batara said Madjakin was not included in the original charge sheet and in the arrest warrant issued earlier against the suspects in the beheading.
But after several witnesses identified Madjakin, Batara said authorities have to amend the complaint to include the suspect.
Madjakin, an active member of the Basilan-based Urban Terrorist Group (UTG) of the Abu Sayyaf, was arrested in Barangay Cabalangan in Tipo-Tipo last Oct. 16.
He was the first militant to be arrested by the police in connection with the ambush of 14 Marines and the beheading of 10 of them in Basilan last July. – Rodel Pareño
