Photo warning labels on tobaccos pushed

-

Anti-tobacco advocates want Congress to pass a law requiring that photographs of the ill effects of smoking be printed on cigarette packs.

Dr. Ma. Encarnita Limpin, Frame Convention on Tobacco Control Alliance Philippines (FCAP) president, said they are gathering one million signatures to convince lawmakers to pass such a law.

Limpin said it is more tedious to amend Republic Act 9211, the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003.

FCAP expects Sen. Pia Cayetano and Pampanga Rep. Ana York Bondoc to sponsor the bills in the Senate and the House of Representatives, she added.  – Sheila Crisostomo
