Comelec to new voters: Register for barangay, SK polls

Teenagers who celebrated their 18th birthday recently are now being urged to visit local Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices to register so they can participate in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 29.

Young adults who can now exercise and enjoy their right to vote or even run for public office are being called upon to participate in the polls which will determine  the country’s next community and youth leaders.

In Parañaque, Mayor Florencio Bernabe said the city’s young adults should act and uphold the essence of democracy by exercising their right to suffrage.

“First-time voters should take time out to register and vote this coming barangay elections,” he said as he reminded them that it is their right to choose their leaders.

Bernabe said those who are now of legal age can visit the city’s local Comelec office along Sta. Lucia Street, from July 15 to 22.

He explained that the registration period is also open to voters applying for change of name, transfer of registration record, correction of entry, and reactivation or reinstatement of registration record.
