P1M knocks on doors today

The Supreme Court announced yesterday that the 2007 Bar examinations will be conducted on Sept. 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the De La Salle University on Taft Avenue, Manila.

Through its committee on the 2007 Bar examinations, chaired by Justice Adolfo Azcuna, the Court said examinees can now apply for the Bar examinations from June 1 to July 15.

The Supreme Court also said the guidelines for the 2007 Bar examinations are also available at the SC’s website: www.supremecourt.gov.ph.

The Supreme Court conducts yearly Bar examinations in fulfillment of its constitutional mandate to promulgate rules governing, among others, the admission to the practice of law.

The Court had earlier reported that a record 1,893 new lawyers from around 100 law schools nationwide took their oath last April 25 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The number comprises 30.60 percent of the 6,187 examinees who took the 2006 Bar examinations.

Justice Angelina Sandoval-Gutierrez chaired the 2006 Committee on Bar examinations.

The test was administered through Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Lawyer Ma. Cristina Layusa.
