Goma may replace Kiko

Independent senatorial candidate Richard Gomez revealed talks are ongoing on his possible inclusion in the slate of the Genuine Opposition (GO).

This developed after re-electionist Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan made clear yesterday that he is not joining the opposition, spurning their offer to join the GO slate.

Gomez was seen conferring with former President Joseph Estrada when the detained leader visited his ailing mother at her home in Greenhills, San Juan recently.

Gomez said he wanted to join the opposition for the elections but later was not included in the lineup despite his popularity.

On the other hand, Gomez took his campaign to the global level, tapping the Filipino community in the United States.

The actor used a different campaign tactic by launching his new fragrance line at a mall in Daly City, California, while giving away campaign materials to Filipino Americans.

Gomez admitted the clothing and consumer line company he is endorsing had made a huge contribution to his campaign.

Gomez is the first senatorial candidate to visit the Bay Area and the first candidate to visit the Filipino community abroad.

The actor is set to tap the votes of more than 9,000 registered absentee voters in the US, including Guam and Saipan. – ABS-CBN News
