POEA cracks down on labor recruiters to Iraq

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration will crack down on illegal recruiters deploying Filipino workers to Iraq in defiance of a government ban.

POEA Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said they have received information that a syndicate is involved in illegally sending Filipino workers to high-risk Middle East countries like Iraq.

"We are sending people as part of the composite team to do crackdown on the illegal recruiters involved in the deployment of undocumented OFWs to Iraq," she said.

Baldoz said the composite teams comprised of agents from the POEA, the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Foreign Affairs will be deployed to the provinces to check on reports of illegal recruitment. — James Mananghaya
