Four killed, one wounded in Parañaque massacre

Four men were shot dead during a drinking spree at the family compound in Parañaque City after midnight Sunday.

A fifth man was wounded and is now undergoing treatment at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City, while a woman who was with the group was spared by the unidentified gunmen.

Parañaque police commander Superintendent Ronald Estilles said brothers Arvin, 30, and John Allen Factor, 29, were drinking with John Bismark Chan, 29, Shermin Franco, 32, and Jerome Garcia, 24, inside their compound in Barangay Don Galo when three armed men barged in and ordered Arvin to hand them his cell phone and bracelet.

After taking the cell phone and bracelet, one of the men shot Arvin. The four others tried to fight back but the two other men shot them one by one, Estilles said.

He said Garcia is now under observation at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City, and the woman, Sharmaine Crisostomo, 21, was taken to the police station for questioning.

Crisostomo, who was in a state of shock, was not known to the five men, Estilles said, adding they just invited her to join them in the drinking session when they saw her walking home.

Police believe the killers were actually targeting Arvin, and that his drinking buddies just had the misfortune of being there at the scene when the gunmen barged into the compound.

On the other hand, Rolando Factor, reportedly a retired policeman and father of Arvin and John Allen, said robbery could not be the motive of the killers.

Police said Garcia of Barangay Don Galo sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his body, while Arvin, John Allen, their cousin, Bismark, and Franco received multiple gunshot wounds.

Franco, a friend of the Factors, reportedly worked at a duty free shop and was a resident of Barangay Bislig, Valenzuela, police added.

Police recovered from the crime scene 11 9-mm. bullet shells.
