WASHINGTON The case of film actress Nora Aunor, charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine in Los Angeles, has been delayed for the third successive month to July 25.
A preliminary hearing of the case had been set for June 27, but her lawyers asked for and were granted a continuance to July 25. No reason for the request was given.
A legal assistant at the law firm defending Aunor said her chief defense counsel Claire Espina was currently on holiday.
Aunor, Nora Cabaltera Villamayor in real life, was arrested on March 30 at the Los Angeles International Airport allegedly in possession of 7.7 grams of methamphetamine inside a film container in her carry-on bag.
The film star appeared before Judge Paula Adele Maybrey for the first time last April 21 and pleaded not guilty.
A preliminary hearing of the case was set for May 26 but was later postponed to June 27 to allow the defense more time to receive an independent laboratory report on the police evidence against Aunor.
Back in Manila, a recent Aunor movie, "Naglalayag," romped off last weekend with the lions share of awards from one of the oldest award-giving bodies, the Famas.
