Romulo at MOPC Foreign Affairs night

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo will be the guest of honor and speaker at the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC), Diplomatic Night on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom, InterContinental Hotel in Ayala Avenue, Makati City. This will formally introduce Romulo to the diplomatic community, the foreign and local press, businessmen and professionals. Romulo will speak on foreign policy and other related issues. The foreign secretary is leaving for the United States a few days after the MOPC affair, and this will be a preview of what he will say in his United Nations address in New York on Sept. 28. A no-holds barred open forum will follow the speech of Romulo. Moderators are MOPC president Tony Lopez, publisher of BizNews Asia Magazine; and MOPC chairman Max Soliven, publisher of the Philippine Star. The audience may ask questions. Romulo holds a Doctor of Laws from the University of Madrid (1963), a Bachelor of Laws from Manuel L. Quezon University (1958), and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting-CPA, from De La Salle University (1954). He was born in Camiling, Tarlac on Aug.7, 1933.
A senator from 1987 to 1998, Romulo has been secretary of budget and management (February 1986 to March 1987); secretary of finance (Jan26 to June 7, 2001); and executive secretary from June 8, 2001 to Aug.27, 2004.
