Did Susan punch KNP bet in Roxas?

As the heat of a midsummer afternoon beat down on the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) sortie in Roxas City in Capiz, actress Susan Roces’ temper also shot past boiling point.

She reportedly punched a KNP candidate in the chest at 3 p.m. yesterday while the opposition ticket was traveling in a motorcade past the public market in Roxas City.

Roces is the wife of KNP standard-bearer Fernando Poe Jr., whose legendary onscreen quick-punch combinations have put away numerous film villains and endeared him to his legion of fans.

The ANC 21 news network reported last night that Roces attempted to box Roxas City vice-mayoral candidate Allan Celino, who told the television network in an interview that he and Roces had a "misunderstanding and she tried to box me."

Despite this, Celino said Poe "is still my president," adding that he will just extend his patience for Roces.

Celino, an incumbent city councilor who is running for vice mayor, added that it was the first time he had been hit by a woman in his 45 years.

However, KNP spokesman Miguel Romero vehemently denied the allegations, saying the administration Koalisyon ng Karanasan at Katapatan para sa Kinabukasan (K-4) is merely "doing everything it can to spread all kinds of intrigues) against the KNP.

"I just talked to them," Romero said, referring to Celino and Roces, "no such thing happened. It is not true."

When asked about Poe’s reaction to the news that his wife strucka KNP candidate, Romero sidestepped the query by saying "such (intrigues) are expected," adding that he hasn’t talked to Poe yet because he was en route to another political rally somewhere in the North.
