CAUAYAN City, Isabela If one believes in feng shui, the presidential bet who hails from the eastern part of the country will sweep the May 10 presidential election.
This was according to Alyansa ng Pag-asa presidential bet, former Education Secretary Raul Roco, who had his two-day campaign sortie in Cagayan and Isabela.
Roco said that according to feng shui experts, the one who hails from the place where the sun rises will win the forthcoming election.
"Roco is from the Bicol Region, the eastern part of Luzon and probably I will be the next president following that feng shui prediction," he told a group of young professionals and businessmen here led by gubernatorial bet Grace Padaca, a former Bombo Radyo commentator.
Roco also held a dialogue with students from OLPI College here and Saint Ferdinand College in Ilagan town.
He said that the Philippines started to face a multitude of social and economic problems after the administration of President Manuel Quezon "because almost all the former presidents came either from the north or south."
Quezon hailed from the province of Quezon which is located on the eastern side of the country.
"It is time that Philippines rises from its many problems and the hope is in Roco, who comes from where the sun rises," he said to the applause of the audience.
As to his signature floral polo shirts which he wears in his provincial sorties, Roco said it is his wife who prescribes his attire and not his feng shui consultant.
"Ang sabi ng misis ko, mas maganda daw kung ganito ang isusuot ko kaysa yung mga pure heavy colors (According to my wife, it is better if I wear this instead of pure heavy colors)," he said.
Roco has, however, belittled poll surveys commissioned by his presidential rivals. He said poll surveys are just road maps and it would not, in any way, decide who will win the elections.
"Roco has the best track record to become the next president," he stressed, adding that his agenda of HOPE (Honest government, Opportunity for all, Peace productivity and prosperity, Education and Environment for sustainable development) is the best answer to the social problems in the Philippines.
