Leaders of the opposition Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) in Northern Luzon endorsed Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson over the weekend as the opposition presidential standard-bearer in next Mays elections.
The political leaders, mostly mayors, vice mayors and barangay captains, made the endorsement during a party consultative meeting at a resort in San Fernando City in La Union which was attended by Lacson, Makati Rep. Agapito Aquino, who is LDP secretary general, and Iloilo Rep. Rolex Suplico.
La Union LDP provincial chairman Butch Dumpit said he and party leaders in the vote-rich North Luzon region wont settle for any presidential candidate other than Lacson.
"We are for Ping or nothing," he said. Jess Diaz
