Police chiefs nationwide expressed yesterday their "unconditional support" for President Arroyo.
The Association of Chiefs of Police of the Philippines (ACCPI) issued the two-page manifesto amid reports of "destabilization moves" within the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
"From day one of her administration and governance, the President has demonstrated political will against the other scourge of destructive politics and partisanship brought about by the police politics of personality, patronage and privilege," read the manifesto.
Retired Gen. Guillermo Domondon, ACCPI chairman, led the police chiefs in lauding Mrs. Arroyo for demonstrating a strong political will in facing the challenges and obstacles in her administration.
The police chiefs also praised Mrs. Arroyo for working for the welfare of the 113,000 policemen nationwide by providing them benefits like housing, health, education and other similar packages.
"The President has strongly inspired the PNP to the high road of professionalism through high moral foundation, transparency and accountability, and work ethic of effective implementation," read the manifesto.
"...Time has come once more to demonstrate to the whole world, without fear or favor, the associations total unity and solidarity with the commander-in-chief."
Mrs. Arroyo is the guest of honor at the flag-raising ceremony at PNP headquarters in Camp Crame today.
The ACCPI president is Director Arturo Lomibao, chief of the PNP directorate for intelligence, while the co-chairman is Director Ricardo de Leon, acting chief of the directorial staff and concurrent police-community relations chief. Christina Mendez
