Ilocos Sur cop gets presidential award

-
Among this year’s Sajig Bulig presidential awardees for heroism is a policeman who risked his life to save others, not just once but twice.

Police Officer 2 Allan Tico’s acts of heroism occurred in July last year in the province of Ilocos Sur.

On July 5, 2001, as flashfloods triggered by typhoon "Feria" inundated Barangay Si-nabaan in Bantay town and sent residents scampering to rooftops, Tico kept his pre-sence of mind to help people evacuate their houses.

The aftermath of the typhoon continued to ravage Bantay town and on July 17, a motorized banca capsized while navigating the Abra River near the Quirino bridge in the same town. Perseus Echeminada
