Biggest lotto pot: P110-M

-
The 6/49 SuperLotto prize of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has ballooned to the year’s biggest jackpot of P110 million after nobody won the latest draw last Sunday.

Condrado Zabella, PCSO’s assistant general manager for the on-line lotto sector, said last night’s draw was the biggest jackpot of the year next to the P98 million won by a student in Quezon City last January.

"The lotto jackpot last night is the biggest prize of the year," Zabella said.

He said the 6/49 SuperLotto drawn Sundays and Thursdays has attracted thousands of fans since it was launched last year.

The bigger the prize, the longer the queue of people in lotto booths all over the country, according to Zabella.

In tandem with the 6/49 is the six-digit game which has also reached a record P3 million from the regular P150,000 jackpot.

The PCSO is expected to announce today if there was a winner of the twin games. Aside from the 6/49, the 6/45 MegaLotto drawn Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays has already reached P60 million. The odds of winning the 6/49 is 15 million to one, while that of winning the 6/45 is 12 million to one.

He also said that the bigger the prize, the more funds generated for the charity. Portion of the more than six billion yearly income of the PCSO is used to help the sick and the needy and support the health care and other charity programs of the government.

"Aside from making instant millionaires, the PCSO also provides the charity funds of the government," he said. — Perseus Echeminada
