Angela eager to start life with Mikey

"I’m very excited looking forward to my new life with Mikey but a little bit nervous that’s why I have really been praying very hard that the wedding will turn out as beautiful as we planned," exclaimed bride-to-be Angela Montenegro as she and Presidential son Pampanga Vice Gov. Mikey Arroyo welcomed immediate relatives and close friends Friday night at the Montenegro residence North Forbes, Makati.

The house was elegantly spruced up by Teyet Pascual, filling the place with spring colored flowers, antique candelabras and scented candles making it look more romantic for the occasion.

President Arroyo arrived at exactly 7:10 p.m. together with First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, Dato Macapagal and his fiancée Cacai Manotok.

Seated at the Presidential table were the principal sponsors, led by former Presidents Corazon Aquino and Fidel Ramos, Senator Loren Legarda Leviste, Gina de Venecia accompanied by her husband Speaker Jose de Venecia, Manila Bulletin chairman Don Emilio Yap, Endika Aboitiz, Mario Cruel, Diosdado Macapagal Jr., Sally Villaraza, and Norma Chan.

Though it was occasion for celebration, talks about the bloody end of the year-long hostage crisis couldn’t be avoided.

"I felt the President was unusually quiet. She was not her usual bubbly mood that night maybe it was because she was really very concerned and bothered that Martin Burnham, Ediborah Yap and a few of our soldiers had died," said Herman Montenegro, father of Angela.

He added that he was very happy for his daughter "since she is marrying a family we know.

"The adjustment, we feel, will be easier," he said.

Joining immediate family members and close friends, was the lone Cabinet member – Finance Secretary Isidro Camacho, who came with his wife Kim and lovely daughter Bea.

The lovely bride-to-be wore a beautiful fuchsia gown by Joe Salazar, who will also be doing her wedding gown. The groom-to-be was in a Pitoy Moreno barong tagalog.

The sumptuous buffet prepared by Millie Reyes of The Plaza while prominently displayed on the side of the buffet table was a pink and maroon fondant cake by sisters Penk and Chen. The couple has not decided as of this writing whether their honeymoon will be in Europe or the States.
