Fifteen days before All Saints Day, Public Works and Highways Secretary Simeon Datumanong ordered yesterday the repair and paving of all roads leading to public cemeteries nationwide.
Datumanong said all public works directors must coordinate and share heavy equipment with local governments to ensure the projects completion and avoid any inconvenience to the public during the holidays.
"In the interest of public service, you are hereby directed to coordinate with your local counterparts to ensure that all construction/rehabilitation works along roads leading to cemeteries shall be finished not later than Oct. 31, 2001," said Datumanong in a memorandum.
The Oct. 15 memorandum has been sent to all regional directors and district managers.
Datumanong said regional and district offices must directly implement the necessary measures to ensure that construction and repair works are completed by months end. Cecille Suerte Felipe
