NASUGBU, Batangas -- It was short-lived fun for a group of excursionists whose jeepney slammed head-on onto a BLTB bus in this town yesterday, killing 14 people and injuring at least 12 others.
Police said the jeepney's driver, Lotlot Pilasol, 22, lost control of the wheel, causing the Nasugbu-bound vehicle to swerve to the left lane and smash into a Manila-bound BLTB bus driven by one Hipolito Ador in Barangay Kaylaway here at about 7 a.m. yesterday.
The fatalities were identified as Ricardo Millona, 30; Josie Millona, 28; their two-year-old daughter Bessie; Marilou Albarillo, 32; Rowena Albarillo, 30; Ghiela Albarillo, 6; Lucy Albarillo, 60; Rowena Borroza, 18; Josephine Tabacon, 30; Juliet Tabacon, 28; Lleomel Gardose, 36; Joel Cabillosa, 36; and Mary Jane Lacatan. The 14th victim remains unidentified.
Injured were Rema Albarillo, Jefferson Milliona, 6; Rene Tolentino, Jaime Medina, Florence de la Calsada, Felixberto de la Vega, Jerickson Medina, Reynaldo Cañete, 40; Josie Capino, 30; Gloria Mercado, 40; Alvin Mercado, 17; and Gary Ambong.
