Estrada launches punctuality drive

-

Saying punctuality is an "indispensable virtue," the chronically tardy President Estrada has declared April 9-15 as "Punctuality Week."

not_ent"Punctuality and civility are two of the indispensable virtues that our citizenry must possess if we are to aspire for a peaceful, prosperous and orderly society," the President said in issuing Proclamation No. 255.

In the proclamation, the President designated the Organized Response for the Advancement of Society (ORAS) Movement to promote the celebration and meaningful observance of Punctuality Week.

He said there is a need "for a new breed of Filipinos who make their time and respect the equal rights of their fellowmen to their time and freedom, thus insuring a united society."

The President, who himself is not a paragon of punctuality, makes light of his tardiness by saying, "The President always comes on time. It just so happens his guests come too early."

But to his credit, the President makes it a point to be prompt for occasions that require him to be there on the dot. --
