60 police stations in Metro now on-line

- by MikeFrialde -

For residents of Metro Manila, calling for immediate police assistance is now just as easy as clicking the computer mouse, or so the police claims.

The National Capital Region Police Office announced yesterday that its 60 police stations across the metropolis are now on-line.

"This will now make the police more accessible to the people, especially those who are computer literate," NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Edgar Aglipay told reporters.

Aglipay said that unknown to the majority of Metro residents, the NCRPO headquarters and its various police stations have been accessible through the Internet for the past six months.

According to Aglipay, the NCRPO and the Pulis Pinoy Foundation, a non-government organization, have agreed to set-up an interactive police directory for Metro Manila.

Under the system, web surfers can simply type the web address metromanilapolice.info.com.ph upon logging into the Internet and be interactively linked to the NCRPO.

Aglipay said that web users either click "pinoy pulis at your service po!" or "on-line complaints and action center" icons at the website's main page.

Clicking either of the icons will open an on-line form which the user will be instructed to fill-up for feedback purposes.

Should the user leave only his home address, a police officer will still pay him a visit and follow-up his complaint. In the event that no contact number was listed, the complaint will still be taken-up, Aglipay said.
