Comelec updates on voters' registration
Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan is calling on all young people to register to vote, noting that about 10 million young people age 18 to 24 years old failed to do so for the May 2019 senatorial elections.
"That number can very well dictate the direction of the nation. But unless the youth and students register in their vast numbers, it won't," Pangilinan says in a statement.
"Kung nais natin ng mas maayos na pamumuno at mga tapat na mga halal na opisyal, kailangan mag-umpisa sa ating sariling pagkilos at pagtataya. September 30 ang deadline na magparehistro sa Comelec. Magparehistro! (If we want a better government and honest elective officials, we need to start with our own actions. September 30 is the registration deadline of the Commission on Elections. Register!)," he adds.
The Commission on Elections says it got 100,399 applications in the first week of voter registration ahead of the May 11, 2020 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
