The number of missing residents due to tropical cyclone Auring grows to four, according to the NDRRMC.

Search and rescue operations for the missing persons from a capsized boat in Surigao del Norte are ongoing.

The NDRRMC also records 1 death due to drowning and two injured — one due to galvanized iron sheets and the other struck by lightning.

"Auring" weakens into a low pressure area as it moves towards the eastern coast of Albay.

State weather bureau PAGASA says the weather disturbance may traverse Bicol Region, southern Quezon, Marinduque and northern Mindoro in the next 24 hours.

At 1 p.m., it was located over the coastal waters of Rapu-Rapu, Albay.

Tropical Depression Auring has made landfall over Batag Island in Laoang, Northern Samar at 9 a.m., PAGASA says.

At 9:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression #AuringPH made landfall over Batag Island, Laoang, Northern Samar.

Tropical Depression Auring is expected to make landfall over the Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar-Leyte area in the next 6 to 12 hours.

State weather bureau PAGASA says the weather disturbance is likely to further weaken before it makes landfall due to persistent high vertical wind shear brought about by the northeast monsoon or amihan.

At 4 a.m., Auring was located 195 km east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte with winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 15 kph.

PAGASA says Tropical Storm Auring has slightly weakened while moving northwestward.

As of 4 p.m. Saturday, the eye of Auring was spotted 440 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. 

Moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour, it has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Tropical Storm Auring keeps its strength over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao.

In PAGASA's 11 a.m. bulletin Saturday, the center of Auring was located 595 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. Auring is moving eastward at 15 kph.

As of 4:00 a.m. Saturday, the center of Auring was spotted 475 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph while moving almost stationary.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, the eye of Auring was spotted 405 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

"Auring" intensifies into a severe tropical storm while moving slowly over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao. 

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the eye of Tropical Storm Auring was found at 535 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph. It is expected to make landfall over the eastern coast of Caraga Region on Sunday morning.

Tropical Storm Auring is forecast to further intensify into a severe tropical storm as it moves westward or west-southwestward.

"However, the storm will likely weaken while crossing the archipelago due to significant terrain interaction and dry air intrusion from the Northeast Monsoon," state weather bureau PAGASA says.

At 4 a.m., Auring was located 595 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with winds of 75 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is up in the following areas: 

  • Davao Oriental
  • the eastern portion of Davao de Oro (Pantukan, Maragusan, New Bataan, Compostela, Monkayo)
  • the southeastern portion of Agusan del Sur (San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, Trento, Santa Josefa)
  • the southern portion of Surigao del Sur (Bayabas, Cagwait, Marihatag, San Agustin, Lianga, Barobo, Tagbina, Hinatuan, Bislig City, Lingig)

PAGASA says Tropical Depression Auring has intensified into a tropical storm while moving slowly northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

The weather bureau in its 11 a.m. Thursday bulletin says Auring was last seen at 685 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. 

It now has the strength of 65 kph maximum sustained winds and gusts of up to 80 kph.

Tropical Depression Auring is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm within the next 24 hours.

State weather bureau PAGASA says Auring will make landfall early Sunday in the Caraga region.

Auring was last located 715 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It is moving west slowly.

Tropical Depression Auring is seen to make landfall over Caraga in Saturday evening or Sunday morning as a tropical storm, PAGASA says.

At 10 a.m., Auring was located 900 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph. It is moving southwestward at 20 kph.

The weather disturbance is currently not affecting any part of the country.

The tropical depression east of Mindanao entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 8 a.m., state weather bureau PAGASA says.

The weather disturbance was named Auring, becoming the first tropical cyclone to enter the country this 2021.
