The state weather bureau reports that as of 2 p.m., the Low Pressure Area East of Central Luzon entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It developed into Tropical Depression Jenny.

Tropical Storm Jenny (international name: Podul) is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility. It exited at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, and is now headed to Hainan, China.

Tropical Storm Jenny is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Casiguran, Aurora in the next two hours, PAGASA says in its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin. 

Once it hits land, it is likely to weaken into a tropical depression.

As of 8 p.m., 10 areas are under Signal No. 2 while 19 are placed under Signal No. 1 due to "Jenny."

PAGASA raised Signal No. 2 over Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands and Alabat Island, Cavite, Laguna, Camarines Norte, northeastern portion of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes

Tropical Storm Jenny is forecast to make landfall in Aurora between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday.

It is seen to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday.

"Jenny" has intensified into a tropical storm and now has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, PAGASA says.

As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, "Jenny" was 360 km east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte or 490 km east of Infanta, Quezon.

The tropical storm is moving west northwest at 25 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has been raised over the following areas:

  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Quirino

"Jenny" was 440 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte at 7 a.m. and moving west at 25 kilometers per hour, PAGASA says in its latest Severe Weather Bulletin.

PAGASA says "Jenny"  is moving towards Central Luzon.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

"Jenny" has accelerated slightly as it moves westward and will bring moderate to heavy rains over the following areas from Tuesday morning to evening:

Bicol Region
Samar Provinces
Quezon
Bulacan
Nueva Ecija
Aurora
Nueva Vizcaya
Quirino
Isabela
Cagayan

"Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will affect over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro," PAGASA also says.

Tropical Depression Jenny was 670 east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 p.m., PAGASA says in its weather advisory.

"Jenny", which developed into a tropical depression earlier Monday afternoon, has maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

"Jenny" is moving northwest at 25 kph.


A Low Pressure Area east of Virac, Catanduanes has developed into a tropical depression and will be called "Jenny," PAGASA says.

The weather bureau will issue its first Severe Weather Bulletin on Tropical Depression Jenny at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 26.
