Foodies stuck at home will have more reasons to enjoy Sunday mornings as their favorite lifestyle show “Taste Buddies” airs a series of fresh episodes beginning July 12 on GMA-7. Watch never-before seen videos of the show's food adventures, which were taped before the Enhanced Community Quarantine was implemented.

While "Taste Buddies" host Solenn Heussaff was on her maternity leave, her co-host Gil Cuerva explored Baguio's must-try dishes and Makati's cool food spots. Joining him in various gastronomic trips were Kapuso stars Michelle Dee, Kate Valdez, Nikki Co, Lexi Gonzales, Angel Guardian, EA Guzman, Anjo Damiles, and Jason Abalos. For the first time ever, comedian Jo Koy takes Netflix to the Philippines in his new comedy special, "Jo Koy: In His Elements."

Koy celebrates his heritage by telling jokes about life as a Filipino-American while highlighting the culture of Manila. Koy uses this opportunity to shine a light on other Filipino-American performers by welcoming to the stage famed breakdancer Ronnie, Grammy-winning producer !llmind, singer/songwriter Inigo Pascual, and comedians Andrew Lopez, Joey Guila, and Andrew Orolfo. "The King: Eternal Monarch," a romantic fantasy drama starring Lee Min-ho, premieres on Netflix on April 17. The romantic fantasy drama series revolves around the relationships of people from two parallel universes. King Lee Gon seeks to seal the gateway between dimensions, while Jung Tae-eul, a police inspector, simply wants to protect other’s lives and their loves. 

"The King: Eternal Monarch" is written by Kim Eun-suk ("Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," "Mr. Sunshine," "Descendants of the Sun"), and directed by Baek Sang-hoon ("Secret," "Who Are You: School 2015" and "Descendants of the Sun") and Jeong Jee-hyun ("Search: WWW").

In Discovery Channel’s upcoming documentary "COVID-19 Battling the Devil," viewers are transported back to the two weeks leading up to the world’s biggest lockdown in history and the subsequent weeks thereafter. Inspired by the countdown format in Zero Hour, the documentary unfolds a minute-by-minute narrative of Wuhan city’s lockdown with key individual moments that preceded the decision.

To better understand the effects of the virus both on the human body and its inevitable repercusions on society, "Battling the Devil" offers a first-hand perspective of experts sifting through genomes, preparing for further medical parameters, and examining the outbreak’s economic impact. It also features the successful construction of two hospitals specifically built to address the COVID-19 crisis in Wuhan.

"COVID-19 Battling the Devil" is a documentary special that Discovery Channel is rolling out in order to share information and lessons on the developing story around COVID-19. It premieres on Sunday, April 5, at 8:10 p.m. only on Discovery Channel.

A prequel series to "Game of Thrones" titled "House of the Dragon" has been ordered by HBO, parent company WarnerMedia announces.

The new series in George RR Martin's epic fantasy world will be set 300 years before the events of TV smash hit "Thrones," and is based on the book "Fire and Blood."

"It's my pleasure to announce today that we are ordering 'House of the Dragon' straight to series for HBO," Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, tells a Los Angeles launch event for the HBO Max streaming platform. — AFP

Taiwanese actress Kuo Shu-Yao and co-star Fandy Fan recently launched the second season of the award-winning HBO Asia Original series, "The Teenage Psychic." The eight-episode season now plays every Sunday at 9 p.m., exclusively on HBO GO and HBO. A new episode will premiere on subsequent Sundays at the same time.

Kuo reprises her role as Xiao Zhen, a teenage psychic who is juggling the pressures of teenage life – first love, academic success and peer pressure - with the demands of the spirit world. Fan joins this season as new student Zhang Yuxuan, who is tired of the parental restrictions placed on him on account of his poor health.

Online streaming giant Netflix releases the main trailer of The Crown season 3.

The third season of The Crown sees a new guard sweep into Downing Street, as Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family struggle to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Britain.

From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age - the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s - Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world.

Written by Peter Morgan, The Crown also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as The Duke of Edinburgh, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson, and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten.

The Crown Season 3 launches globally on Sunday, November 17.

Online streaming giant Netflix announces that "Arthdal Chronicles," a new Korean epic fantasy drama, starring a high profile cast, like Song Joong-ki, Jang Dong-gun, Kim Ji-won and Kim Ok-bin, will launch globally in early June.

The storyline is centered around the ancient city of Arthdal, established on Arth. Eunseom, played by Song Joong-ki ("A Werewolf Boy," "Descendants of the Sun"), is a character who relentlessly fights to protect his own tribe. 

The series is directed by Kim Won-seok ("Sungkyunkwan Scandal," "Misaeng"), and written by Kim Young-hyun and Park Sang-yeon, the two award-winning screenwriters of the popular Korean historical period dramas "Deep Rooted Tree" and "Queen Seondeok." Kim is also known for the mega-hit drama "Dae Jang Geum."

Disney's video streaming service will launch in the US early next year then gradually go international, making its debut as a Netflix rival later than expected.

Disney Streaming Services President Michael Paull says after a US debut in the first quarter of 2020, Disney+ will then launch in Europe.

The entertainment giant had been expected to introduce Disney+ this year.

Disney's service will offer its films and TV shows, along with the library it acquired from Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox. That includes the "Star Wars" and Marvel superhero franchises and ABC television content. — AFP

Netflix original series "The Crown" casts Emma Corrin to play Lady Diana Spencer. She will join the show in Season 4.

Online streaming giant Netflix debuts trailer for its original Korean series, "My First First Love." 

Starring Jisoo, Jung Chae-yeon, Jinyoung, Kang Tae-oh, and Choi Ri, "My First First Love" premieres on April 18 only on Netflix.

Five friends who are in their early 20s struggle to deal with firsts of everything as young adults; from love, sorrow, loss and heartbreaks to seeking independence and happiness.

A brand new "Game of Thrones" Season 8 teaser titled "Aftermath" has been released. 

The eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" will debut in Asia same time as the U.S. on Monday, April 15 at 9 a.m., with a same day encore at 10 p.m., exclusively on HBO Go and HBO. The series will also be available on HBO On Demand. New episodes will premiere every Monday at the same time.

HBO Asia’s new original Taiwan drama series, “The World Between Us,” is a 10-part hour-long series that follows the aftermath of a mass-shooting where all parties involved – the killer, the victims, the victims’ families, the media and the defense teams, whose fates are all intertwined. It premieres in Asia on Sunday, March 24, with two back-to-back episodes from 9 p.m. onwards on HBO Go and HBO (StarHub TV Ch 601). 

The series features an all-star ensemble cast from Taiwan including Alyssa Chia, James Wen and Wu Kang-Jen. The series is directed by award-winning filmmaker, Lin Chun-Yang (“The Soul Of Bread”) and written by the renowned award-winning screenwriter, Lu Shih-Yuan.

Imprisonment won’t stop Vance Larena from pursuing his dreams, as he plays the ex-convict and drug dealer and addict Victorio this Saturday, (March 23) on “MMK.”

Life has always been hard for Victorio, who became a construction worker at the age of 12 to help his sickly father and their family survive. He always had close brushes with the authorities for drug-dealing but eventually gets caught and jailed. Because of this, his father Nitoy’s (Ronnie Lazaro) heart is broken by his son’s troubles and is left to fend for himself amid failing health. This leaves Victorio’s despairing and depressed while inside the prison.

He gets initiated into a gang and beaten by fellow inmates. He also gets brutally coerced by authorities to give up the names of his drug-dealing comrades but keeps his mouth shut for fear of his family’s fate outside. Victorio soon finds enlightenment and discovers a way to continue studies while inside prison. After studying for two years, he is released for being one of the topnotch high school graduates in the city, and eventually offered a scholarship in the Quezon City Polytechnic University. How did Victorio survive prison? Can someone really change for the better despite their circumstances?

Also in this episode are Angelo Ilagan, Kiko Matos, JB Agustin , Luke Alford, Lance Lucido , Christian Morones and Dido Dela Paz. It is under the direction of Elfren Vibar and written by Mae Rose Balanay.

Award-winning Cinema One Originals film “Confessional,” directed by Jerrold Tarog and Ruel Antipuesto, will be streaming on Cinema One’s YouTube channel starting Thursday (March 28).
 
The mockumentary features fictional character and filmmaker Ryan Pastor who meets former mayor Lito Caliso while on his way to Cebu to document the Sinulog Festival. Lito then confesses—in front of Ryan’s camera—all the crimes he committed while in office.
 
This story, written, edited, and starred by Jerrold himself, won Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, among other recognition in the 2007 Cinema One Originals.
 
“Confessional” also bagged the Best Film nod in the First Features Section of the 10th Osian’s Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema in New Delhi, India, as well as the Best Southeast Asian Film in the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival.

Two movies fresh-off-the-cinema movies are premiering on TV this March as KBO brings Star Cinema’s family drama “Three Words To Forever,” and 2018 MMFF entry “One Great Love.”  

Fifteen years after their last film, “Walang Kapalit,” Sharon Cuneta and Richard Gomez reunite in the big screen with Phenomenal Box Office Queen Kathryn Bernardo in “Three Words To Forever.” What could have been a happy celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Cristy’s (Sharon Cuneta) parents (Freddie Webb and Liza Lorena), turns into a complicated family affair as she and husband Rick (Richard Gomez) decide to announce their separation after 25 years of marriage and as their daughter, Tin (Kathryn) decides to marry her boyfriend Kyle (Tommy Esguerra).

Also included in is Kim Chui's "One Great Love,"  a story Zyra’s (Kim) failed relationship with Carl (JC de Vera). They try to resolve it but as soon as Ian (Dennis Trillo)'s character comes into the picture, Zyra begins to doubt her own feelings.

Also in the KBO line-up this month are TV premiers of Korean movies, "Be With You," "Daddy You, Daughter Me" and "The Mood of Day," "Rainbow Sunset," other MMFF entries, "Rainbow Sunset," and "Otlum," plus iWant original "Ma."
