EDSA People Power anniversary rites 2019
Vice President Leni Robredo says the spirit of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution remains significant to this day as a reminder to every citizen that power truly resides in ordinary Filipinos uniting for the common good.
In a statement Sunday, the vice president also calls on Filipinos to remember the occasion regardless of political affiliation.
On Saturday, Robredo told reporters in Naga City, where she led a simple commemoration of the EDSA Revolution’s 33rd anniversary, that if the people are united the impossible can become possible.
“Para sa akin, mahalaga na kino-commemorate siya para hindi natin nakakalimutan iyong lessons. Iyong pinakamahalagang lesson doon, pagpapaalala na iyong kapangyarihan, nasa kamay ng ordinaryong Pilipino — na kahit gaano man ka-powerful, o kahit gaano ka-imposible iyong tinitingnan na task, iyong pinaka-lesson sa atin ng EDSA, basta magkaisa iyong mga Pilipino, iyong imposible puwedeng puwedeng maging posible.”
