Marcos' trip to Saudi: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leaves for a trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning. He departs from the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

Marcos is set to participate at the inaugural Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit which will be held until Oct. 21, 2023.

During his trip, Marcos is set to hold  bilateral meetings with officials of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to reaffirm the Philippines’ diplomatic relations with the two countries. He will also visit the Filipino community in Riyadh. 

The ASEAN and GCC nations, established in 1990, comprise Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates . — Rosette Adel

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. departs for Kuala Lumpur to embark on a State Visit to Malaysia from Tuesday until Thursday. 27,

Marcos is visiting Malaysia following the invitation of the King of Malaysia.

The president is expected to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to pursue bilateral cooperation in priority areas that include agriculture, food security, tourism, digital economy and people-to-people exchange as well as the halal industry and Islamic banking. 

He is likewise expected to meet with Filipino and Malaysian business leaders to enhance bilateral trade and investment, and meet Filipinos in Malaysia.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his wife are attending the coronation of the United Kingdom's King Charles III, a trip that has been met with criticism from activist groups who say it is an unnecessary expense while the country — and most of the world — is facing a cost-of-living crisis.

Activist youth group Anakbayan says the justification that foreign trips bring in investments ring hollow because these investment pledges are really just promises.

"While he enjoys luxury abroad, prices remain high and wages remain low," the group says in a statement in Filipino. "Instead of focusing on addressing the continuing crisis, Marcos spends his time on vacation."

The coronation will be the first for the United Kingdom since 1953.

Marcos says his bilateral visit to Japan is essential and is part of a larger foreign policy agenda to forge closer political, security and economic ties with major countries in the region.

President Ferdinand Marcos says Wednesday he hoped to strengthen ties with Beijing on his first state visit to China since taking office.

China and the Philippines are at odds over the hotly disputed South China Sea, with Marcos expected to sign a deal in Beijing this week to establish direct communication on maritime issues.

Manila considers it "of primary importance to... strengthen the relationship between China and the Philippines", Marcos said in a meeting on Wednesday with top Chinese legislator Li Zhanshu. — AFP

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. says he is still unsure whether he will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next year.

The STAR reports that Marcos, asked whether he accepted the invitation by WEF Founder Klaus Schwab, replied: “I am undecided yet. It’s traveling too much.”

The Office of the Press Secretary announces that World Economic Forum (WEF) Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab has invited President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the WEF in Davos, Switzerland from January 16 to 20, 2023.

Schwab made the invitation in a breakfast meeting with Marcos, commending the Philippine leader for the strong showing of the economy.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirms early Monday morning reports that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. flew to Singapore over the weekend.

On her Facebook account, the press secretary shared the post of Singapore Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng where the latter said he is happy to meet various heads of States including Marcos.

Cruz-Angeles says Marcos’ visit to Singapore has been productive. “Pinagpatibay niya ang mga pangunahing usapan sa huling state visit sa bayan na ito, at pinatuloy ang paghihikayat sap ag invest sa bayang Pilipinas,” she adds.

She did not explain why no announcements were made prior to the visit, or how productive the trip supposedly was.

This was after reports said Marcos flew to Singapore for the Formula One Grand Prix. Photos suggesting the president, his son Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos (Ilocos Norte), and his cousin House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez were at the Singapore grand prix have also been circulating on Facebook.

The official website of Singapore Grand Prix also posted a photo of the younger Marcos.

She did not explain why no announcements were made prior to the visit.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles says President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. met with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio at the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“The two leaders met and discussed developments in Philippines-Japan bilateral relations,” Cruz says.

She adds that the two leaders “reaffirmed their commitment to reinforce ties and strengthen cooperation in response to the challenges and opportunities in the regional security and economic landscape.”

The Philippine Air Force says two of its FA-50 fighter jets escorted President Ferdinand "Bongbong"Marcos' flight "as it left the country" for an official trip to New York City to attend the 77th United Nations General Assembly on September 18.

"The fighter jets escorted the presidential flight in the country's eastern front starting over Polilio island all the way up to 200 nautical miles," it says.

"After escorting the presidential flight[,] which lasted for a few minutes, the two FA-50s continued with the conduct of regular maritime patrol," it adds.

The Philippine government, through Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo has requested for executive clemency for Mary Jane Veloso from Indonesia, the department says.

In a statement, the DFA confirms Manalo met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Jakarta on September 4 at the sidelines of the state visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to Indonesia.

“Foreign Minister Marsudi said she would consult the Ministry of Justice on the matter,” the department adds.

Speaking to members of the press who covered his Indonesia state visit, President Ferdinand Marcos says the trip was “more productive” that they expected.

The president says the purpose of their visit was to encourage private-public partnerships with the Philippine government, and other joint ventures with businessmen.
