iPhone 6, 6 Plus reach more than 10M sales in 3 days

Alixandra Caole Vila - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Apple’s total sales could really speak for the brand’s popularity. The company announced on Monday via their website that in just three days, more than 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units were sold.

Four million of the total sales were accounted for by the gadgets sold during the pre-orders which opened on September 12. The total sales generated for the new models eclipsed their previous record where nine million units of iPhone 5S and 5C were sold.

“Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive officer.

Apple launched its latest products on September 9. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus both have sleek, thin and seamless design that are bundled with ground-breaking features such as the Apple-designed A8 chip with second generation 64-bit desktop-class architecture for blazing fast performance and power efficiency; advanced iSight and FaceTime HD cameras; ultrafast wireless technologies; and Apple Pay.

The gadgets were initially made available in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The company is targeting to make it available to 115 countries by the end of the year.
