Breakfast rocks!
MANILA, Philippines - Have you seen the new Jollibee TV commercials? The ones for their Breakfast Joys treats, morning delights that are sure to keep you happy from the get-go? In one TV ad, people walk out of the restaurant, energized, positive and happy. Cheerful greetings and “Good mornings!” are shared with total strangers. One girl even compliments another woman’s business suit by saying, “Nice dress!” In total awe and disbelief, the girl in the business suit asks no one in particular: “Ano’ng nakain n’un?” (What did that person eat?) Well, they just came out of Jollibee. From the dialogue, we can deduce that this little exchange takes place in the morning. So it’s “good morning” food from Jollibee: Breakfast Joys, in fact.
Exaggerated reactions like these usually happen only on TV. Ecstatic “Good mornings!” and other joyous phrases generally only slip out of the mouths of servers, security guards and staff — because it’s their job to say it. But from a stranger on the street? I doubt it.
It’s fun to try to recreate that feeling, though. And that’s exactly what happened one morning at Jollibee Ortigas Roosevelt. Guests were invited, breakfast was served, and then it happened: the joy started to spread.
After savoring the satisfying and tasty goodness of Jollibee’s Breakfast Joys, dozens of media members suddenly sang an impromptu morning medley that boosted everyone’s spirits. With guest performers from pioneer Improv comedy group SPIT and seasoned stage performers the Broadway Babies, Jollibee Ortigas Roosevelt was transformed into a bright and sunny musical theater that had everyone smiling and singing along. The event highlighted the right blend of ingredients to start your day great — a delicious and filling breakfast, high spirits, and a harmonized chorus of uplifting music to top off the morning on a perfect note.
Guests also sampled the new Sausage & Egg Pandesal, Jollibee’s newest breakfast offering which makes it possible for people on the go to still enjoy a filling and delicious breakfast. The new Sausage & Egg Pandesal consists of a mouth-watering sausage patty with scrambled egg and whipped butter in a soft warm pandesal. It is available in all Jollibee stores nationwide for only P35 (solo) and P45 for a value meal with a choice of coffee, hot chocolate or a regular cold drink.
Also available for breakfast that morning were other deliciously filling, best-selling Pinoy breakfast meals — like Longganisa, Beef Tapa, Crispy Bangus, Hotdog, Breakfast Steak, and Corned Beef along with Pancakes. Talk about a hearty breakfast to start the day right!
We all know that breakfast literally means “to break the fast.” And if you think about it, when you sleep you deprive yourself of food and drink for a good six to eight hours. If that’s not fasting, then I don’t know what is. That’s why you’re cranky in the morning. That’s why you don’t want to do anything. That’s why you just can’t stand the sight or sound of loud, bubbly, smiling morning people.
Never skip the most important meal of the day, though. It goes a long way. And if someone notices a change in your disposition and asks: “Ano’ng nakain nu’n?” then the answer is simple: breakfast.
