MANILA, Philippines — Bahrain's bet Shereen Ahmed celebrated her 30th birthday slaying the runway at the Miss Universe swimsuit competition during the preliminary round earlier today in Mexico.
The half-Filipino beauty queen did not wear a traditional swimsuit because she's from an Arab country.
The host, Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, described Shereen as an advocate for single mothers.
"Shereen is a journalist, digital creator and advocate for single mothers. She's a proud voice for her community, and today is her 30th birthday," R'Bonney said.
"Happy birthday, Bahrain," she added.
Shereen previously said that she joined Miss Universe Bahrain in 2022, but fell short and placed 2nd runner-up.
She said that she was inspired by Michelle Dee's journey in 2023.
“Watching her journey inspired me and reignited my passion for pageantry, giving me hope during difficult times,” she said.
