Start your spring cleaning

GO-SEE - Joyce Oreña -

The weather has a mind of its own these days that it’s so confusing to know which season we’re at. But for fashion, the new spring/summer collections are just around the corner. So, jumpstart the season and take a look at fashion’s latest inspirations. Take references from the latest trends and start looking through your closet for pieces to resurrect and outfits to reinvent. Then, make a list of those key items to add to update your wardrobe.

In The Mood For Color

Color is back. There is always something about the season that makes us want to wear happy colors. Think color blocking. Bold color choices are worn in blocks. Combine violet, orange and green or orange and fuchsia or turquoise, yellow and orange. Have fun and be bold. For those less bold, pair jewel tones with black or play with shades of the same color.

Not in the mood for color? Then the season’s nude tones are for you.

Up-To-Date Punk

Fashion loves to toy with the masculine and feminine vibes. This time, it appeared with punk inspiration. Get that tomboy feel with deconstructed cuts, studded accents or the iconic punk detail — the safety pin. The current take is more about mixing punk details with other trends rather than wearing it from head-to-toe. Think of punk’s defiant independence.

Fashion Wallpaper

Wallpaper prints are not only to decorate the walls but also clothes. Geometric designs and blooms showed up in many collections.

Mod ’60s

Kitten heels are making a comeback. A resurgence of longer hemlines and fuller skirts made their way to the current fashion scene. Finish the look with a bold red lipstick or a soft pink shade.

Take your fashion cue from the season’s latest trends. Make a statement with pieces that suit your personality and lifestyle. Take note of the season’s details to make you look current. Remember to add pieces that will make a difference to your wardrobe instead of purchasing on a whim. Start spring-cleaning. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the pieces you can revamp and wear again. Have fun!

Feminine Details

Modern design with handcrafted techniques add a feminine feel to the season. This time lace is antique and classic. Macrame and crochet get luxurious. Feathers and tassels are added for a sophisticated detail. Think glam more than an easy-going hippie look.

Mean Business

Independent women want to mean business. Mean business with updated men’s suits. Men’s tailoring showed up with modern details and monochromatic tones.

Summer Blues

We cannot get enough of denim. This season, wear loose and wide versions belted at the waist. Just when we thought we looked dated with high-waisted jeans, think again. They’re back!

Resurrect The ’70s

There will always be a season standout on the decade-of-choice where designers take inspiration. This time, it’s the ’70s. The decade showed up in high-waisted flares paired with elegant blouses, floor-grazing dresses or skirts for that Bohemian feel, smart jumpsuits, daring hot pants, high platform shoes and piled-up jewelry. More than the fashion, confidence is key. The decade was about embracing your sexuality and individuality. Think clean and sleek for a modern take on the ’70s.

Nautical Stripes

Look for nautical stripes to look current. Think Navy blue and white.

Zoo-M In Fashion

Zoo animals showed up on the spring/summer catwalks. Parrots, elephants, monkeys, pandas, leopards, tigers, giraffes and wolves added whimsical details to the season’s collections.

Asian Vibe

Asian references take center stage again. Tunics, cropped pants, kimono styles, Japanese and Chinese prints appeared on the runways.
