The breath of life
These days it is so easy to feel overwhelmed. There is so much work to be done, not enough hours in the day to do it, and the temperature keeps rising and rising. It’s increasingly difficult to keep cool and fresh when the thermostat is already registering fever temperatures and you’re stuck in rush hour praying you make it to a meeting on time.
It’s moments like these that one has to remember to pull back from the situation and relax. And there’s no better way to relax than to take a few deep breaths and find your center again. If you have time, meditation helps as well and before you know it you will be recharged and ready to get back to business. Indeed, there is nothing more natural (and more economical) than breathing to alleviate your stress and anxiety.
Last May 19, Rexona Naturals invited a group of lovely ladies (myself included) to take a breath, as it were, and get in some serious relaxation for a few hours. We were treated to a special relaxing yoga class led by Drinie Aguilar who encouraged us to follow a series of poses that helped us focus on our breathing and allowed us to relax. The session was peaceful and allowed us to take it easy for a few hours in the day — a luxury not many get very often. While going through various poses and movements, we were always reminded to breathe in and out continuously.
It was an incredibly relaxing environment and great for de-stressing since nothing comes close to a good deep breath when things get toxic. The rush of oxygen and the intake of air is a purification process in itself, ridding the body of carbon dioxide, fluids, and toxins. Breathing is always good for us, and not just for our soul, but for our skin as well.
By taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide through our pores, our skin is also “breathing” by regulating heat, water, and air. This is why it is also important not to slather too many substances on your skin like makeup, lotion, and other products that may cause irritation. Our skin can be very sensitive and only the most gentle and natural products should be used on it to keep it healthy and clear.
This is the premise of Rexona Natural’s new Bioprotection range. It was created with the thought that every part of our body needs a breather — including our underarms. The skin in our underarms can take quite a beating as well (especially in this heat), can be very sensitive, and needs to be able to breathe.
With this in mind, Rexona Naturals Bioprotection formulation combines the best of Rexona antiperspirant science with more natural ingredients to work in sync with the body’s natural sweating response, giving the same 24-hour protection and allowing users to feel confident, fresh, and dry all day, even in the sweltering heat. The deodorant contains more sunflower seed oil than regular variants, which is a natural source of Vitamin E and Omega 6 fatty acids essential for naturally healthy underarm skin. The fatty acids moisturizer the skin, which leads to healthier skin cells. And the healthier the skin cells the better they are at absorbing oxygen and nutrients, allowing the skin to breathe more naturally.
And it’s called the “breath of life” for a reason: allowing ourselves, and our skin, especially in our underarms, to breathe easy makes us feel alive and rejuvenated, which is exactly how I felt after the yoga class. It took extreme will power to get myself off the mat at the end. A delicious healthy lunch followed after which I headed back to the office both recharged and refreshed.
