Olivia Rodrigo praises Pinays' cover of 'vampire' while washing dishes, laundry
MANILA, Philippines — A viral video of two Filipino women singing "vampire" as they washed dishes and did laundry has caught the attention of the track's original singer, Filipino-American artist Olivia Rodrigo.
TikTok user Minna Atab regularly posts videos of herself covering songs by other artists, and last November she uploaded one for "vampire."
Taken from a bird's-eye view, two women are seen doing dishes and laundry as they sing the track's chorus, quieting as it ended because of a curse word.
"This is why it takes us so long to eat, those doing the dishes are still putting on a concert!" Minna wrote in Cebuano for the post's caption.
The video was reposted on the TikTok account music_jinx, which often reposts cover videos, where it gained further attention including that of Olivia's.
"OMG, this makes me smile so big!!!! They sound incredible!!!!!" Olivia commented on music_jinx's repost.

As of writing, both Minna's original video and music_jinx's repost have surpassed five million views and around 700,000 likes each. Minna even posted a reaction video on her TikTok account upon learning Olivia took notice.
Other TikTok users equally praised the women's singing, some in more humorous ways.
One compared them to Disney Princesses, specifically Cinderella who did chores for her step-family, while another commented, "Nakakagana pala maghugas ng masebong tupperware kung kanta ni Olivia."
On music_jinx's repost a user joked, "vampire yung kanta pero manananggal yung nagvi-video" and another quipped, "Mapapakanta ka talaga ng 'vampire' kung sobrang dami mong ginagawa at maghugas ng plato at maglaba."
Olivia has six nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where "vampire" is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
