Gloc-9 remembers humble beginnings in 'Kamusta Ka Na'
MANILA, Philippines — For popular Pinoy rapper Gloc-9, who is everyone’s "Paboritong Makata," life comes full circle as he reminisces his humble beginnings in a song that he has crafted.
He calls it “Kamusta Ka Na,” and it tells the story of his life, beginning as a dreaming lad from the municipality of Binangonan in the province of Rizal, gazing at the sky on a starlit night and wishing that he would one day become a part of the constellation of famous rap stars. And, now, he certainly is.
The song is a simple yet profound introspection. It is a monologue, with Gloc-9 talking to his younger self and looking back to the time when he bravely and boldly took the road less travelled. It was a road strewn with seemingly countless rejections, a journey he took despite being armed only with an unwavering belief that each trial he has surpassed is a step closer to turning his dream into a reality.
His journey has turned out to be a very successful one, and what a ride it has been for Gloc-9! His career has spanned 25 years, and he continues to ride the waves. According to his manager, Asintada Management’s chairperson and CEO Thea Pollisco, a.k.a. Mrs. 9, our Paboritong Makata feels that age is starting to creep in, and yet he remains passionate about his craft, but this time as a beacon for young rap artists to follow, instilling in them the very same fire that he once had.
Gloc-9 has, in fact, been actively releasing several other projects recently. These include the launch of XXV, which is their first collaboration with Greyhoundz since 2006, as well as a song titled ‘Kwentong Barbero’ with newly signed Universarl Records artist Ramdiss.
Going back to his brand new offering last May, "Kamusta Ka Na," the single artwork of the song was made by CLMarts. It’s out on your favorite digital streaming platforms.
