Taylor Swift breaks own record at AMAs 2020
MANILA, Philippines (Updated Nov. 24, 2020, 12:18 a.m.) — International pop star Taylor Swift broke her own record after winning six awards at the recently concluded American Music Awards (AMA).
Taylor was named Artist of the Decade, an honor announced before the ceremony, and won Artist of the Year. Last year, Swift broke the "King of Pop" Michael Jackson's record at the AMAs. Jackson had 24, but as of this year, Swift already has 32.
She also won Favorite Pop Album for her latest album, “Lover.” Her six awards make her the most successful AMAs artist ever, with a total of 29, dethroning Michael Jackson, who won 22.
"This year for me has been a lot. It's been a lot of good, it's been a lot of really complicated,” Taylor said as she thanked her fans worldwide.
Taylor won the biggest award of the night, besting over Drake, Ariana Grande, Halsey and Post Malone.
"All that matters to me is the memories I have had with you guys, with you the fans, over the years. We've had fun, incredible, exhilarating, extraordinary times together and may it continue. I am so lucky to get to do this," she said.
