MANILA, Philippines- Shane Filan’s fans braved the bad weather just to watch his first solo concert on Wednesday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Two years after his former band Westlife disbanded, Shane tried his luck as a solo artist and was warmly welcomed both by Westlife fans and the new generation.
So during his concert, Shane performed songs both from his current album and the hits of his former band.
He opened the show by performing “When I Met You,” which is part of his debut album. This is immediately followed by the song “Uptown Girl,” which was revived by Westlife in the ’90s, and made the crowd sing and dance along.
Overwhelmed by his crowd that night Shane said, "I told the boys when I go to the Philippines it's going to be very loud, and you didn't let me down Manila! It's very loud, it's very loud!"
He then performed the hits “What Makes a Man” and “My Love.” He went acoustic as well when he performed the song “Baby Let’s Dance.”
Other “flashback” songs that Shane performed were “Swear It Again,” “Flying Without Wings” and “You Raise Me Up.”
The 35-year-old singer-songwriter also showed his different side as he performed a medley of “Blurred Lines” and “Wake Me Up.”
Shane also grabbed the chance to perform with a Filipino artist through “The Voice Philippines” season one runner-up Klarisse de Guzman, who also was the front act that night.
The two performed “Flying Without Wings,” which made Shane compliment her saying, “she has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard."
He also made one fan swoon as he invited her on stage and serenaded her with the song “Mandy.”
When everyone thought that the night is over, Shane went back to the stage and performed two songs from his album, “Everything to Me” and “Knee Deep in My Heart.”
Since Manila was his last stop for the “You & Me Tour,” Shane made a promise to his fans by saying, “I'll see you in 2015! Good night!"
