MANILA, Philippines- Gloc 9 doesn’t want to release an album this year.
After his record label Universal Records asked him if he could work on his third album, the singer-songwriter declined.
“Kasi kahit 'yong 'Mga Kuwento Ng Makata' to 'Liham at Lihim,' malapit, e, malapit 'yong release nila sa bawat isa from 'Sirena' to 'Magda,'” he explained in a recent interview. “So sabi ko sa UR, baka mag-pass ako sa album. I told them, 'if you want, mayro'n akong concept, kung gusto n'yo, i-release natin.'”
The “concept” that Gloc 9 was talking about is the documentary dubbed “Biyahe ng Pangarap,” which narrates how he started his music career, his first attempts to be noticed by different record labels, and how his mentor Francis Magalona guided him through the ins and outs of the industry.
“Lagi nila akong tinatanong if I can tell kung paano nangyari 'yong... natahak 'yong path na 'to,” he replied when asked why he came up with the project.
“Sabi ko, puwede nilang gawin sa TV 'yon or sa write ups, pero feeling ko, walang ibang better na way na makuwento 'yon kundi ako mismo ang magkuwento. So ginawa ko 'to.”
He added: “Sabi ko nga, hindi lang siya project slash racket na DVD or album, e. It's a labor of love talaga.”
