MANILA, Philippines- An album to showcase unheard artists is the goal of the independently-released album “Kami Naman.â€
Downorth Musique label founder and the album's producer/artist Jeffrey Yumol said that they named the album “Kami Naman†because they "want people to realize that there are so many talented indie musicians out there."
Yumol hopes that through this album, people will get to notice those singers-songwriters who have something more to offer.
“[They] are struggling to get their music out and be heard because all we are hearing right now are cover songs and stuff like that from commercially successful individuals.
“The album is actually calling their attention to listen and to support pure original music, an indie artists’ crafts; it’s like yelling 'Hoy, Kami Naman pakinggan nyo, Kami Naman suportahan nyo, lagi nalang sila.'â€
“Kami Naman†is a compilation of songs from different artists namely Pikoy, Khael, Noveno, Jeffrey Yumol, and Paula Alcasid.
These artists are Yumol's discovery from the Songwriter's Night event, which is held every third Monday of the month at Conspiracy Bar in Quezon City.
The album consists of 10 original songs: “Go†by Pikoy; “Tameme†by Khael; “Street Dreams†by Noeno; “Antibiotic†by Paula Alcasid; “Fueled†by Jeff Feat. Lie; “Ang Feeling Mo†by Pikoy; “Tsinelas†by Khael; “Paano Ba†by Noveno Feat. Jeff; “Storm†by Paula Alcasid; “My Girl†by Jeff Feat. Laurice, and one hidden original track.
