Review: Gladers solve a different maze in 'The Scorch Trials'

Patricia Lourdes Viray - Philstar.com

The Gladers discover a new world as they get out of the maze and face new challenges in the scorch.

"The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" takes off as the Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), along with fellow Gladers, Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Minho (Ki Hong Leee), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and the others get "rescued" from the maze created by the mysterious and powerful organization World Catastrophe Killzone Department (WCKD).

Later on, they discover that their rescuers are also part of WCKD, who they thought were killed as they got out of the maze.

Thomas and the others go on the run as they escape WCKD and find a safe place for themselves.

They have to run away from WCKD and from zombies as well as they go outside the refined walls of the organization's facility.

Out in the Scorch, they discover the real world which has been destroyed by some kind of plague which is known as the "Flare."

The Gladers then go on a journey to find the "left arm" or the resistance fighters who have been reported to be hiding in the mountains.

As they find the resistance movement, which is also comprised of "immune" children like them, they gear up to find the safe haven free from WCKED and the Flare.

"The Scorch Trials" explains why the Gladers were trapped inside the maze and at the same time unravel new mysteries as the film progresses.

The second installment to the "Maze Runner" series is now showing at cinemas in the Philippines from 20th Century Fox and is distributed by Warner Bros.
