MANILA, Philippines- Up and rising Hollywood stars are part of this super spy film “Kingsmen: The Secret Service.”
This film stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine and Mark Strong along with newbie young stars led by Taron Egerton, Sofia Boutella, and Sophie Cookson.
“The Kingsmen: The Secret Service” is a story about the veteran spy Harry Hart (Firth) and sees a potential to a juvenile boy Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Egerton) in becoming a spy in a “super-secret spy organization.”
Harry bets on Eggsy as their organization recruits and trains potential agents.
“I was afraid it was ridiculous,” Firth said about the film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I think what’s brilliant about Matthew [Vaughn] is that he takes people’s expectations and likes to mess with them.
“When we first met the year before, he said, 'one of the reasons I’m casting you is because you’re probably the last person anyone could imagine kicking people and kicking off the villains.' And that was the surprise he wanted to pull.”
This trick of Vaughn actually worked with Firth, which made him say yes to the film adaptation of the comic book “The Secret Service” by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.
Upon accepting the role, Firth had undergone training to prepare him for the stunts and fight scenes for the movie. His training with the Jackie Chan Training team even made him realize that he actually enjoys doing fight scenes.
“I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed myself so much in my life,” he said about his training. “I realized that I’d made assumptions about myself that meant I had probably been neglecting something that I might have enjoyed for years if I’d got to it earlier.”
“Kingsmen: The Secret Service” will be in cinemas on October 23. And while people wait for the movie, here are snippets from the film's scenes.
