THE HOUSEBAND’S WIFE
BY PAOLO O’HARA
SHORT FEATURE CATEGORY
SYNOPSIS: The Houseband is an essay about a typical OFW family, with the OFW wife as breadwinner and the husband left in the Philippines to care for the children. Technology and the internet bridges the physical distance but shatters domestic harmony when the wife, on a Skype video call, sees a bra, not hers, hanging in the marital closet.
FILMMAKER PROFILE: His love for acting started in his childhood when he was exposed to watching different genres of theater, TV and film. It's one of the reasons why he pursued theater while in college. After graduating with a BS in Math degree, he joined Tanghalang Pilipino's Actors' Company under the leadership of Nonon Padilla. He left the company after almost six years of acting in most of its productions to do freelance work as an actor. Expanding his skills, he worked as a comedy improv player, voice talent, acting teacher, theater and events director. His thirst for learning led him to create his first short film "The Houseband's Wife". Budget constraints and limited resources did not deter him from producing his film. He is excited and eager to learn more of this medium.
