New 'Hunger Games' trailer breaches 6M mark

MANILA, Philippines - In just two days after the teaser trailer of the latest film in the Hunger Games trilogy was posted, it already gained 6.3 million views as of Tuesday on YouTube alone.

Upon the trailer's release late on Sunday and was premiered at the MTV Movie Awards, it took over Twitter trending topics in most English-speaking countries like the Philippines.

Instead of presenting a montage of snippets from the upcoming film like most trailers, Catching Fire's exclusive teaser exposes a mini-narrative of the conflict dealt with in the story.

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is set to return as Hunger Games victor Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second installment in the hugely successful film franchise adapted from the bestselling Suzanne Collins three-part novel.

Katniss, having returned home with fellow victor Peeta Mellark, is shown to be on a Victor's Tour with him to visit each district as winners of the recent Hunger Games.

According to social media tracker Trendsmap, the Catching Fire teaser sustained its popularity to mostly to viewers from Quezon City, Marikina City and Cebu since its release.

Filipino fans praised the trailer, saying it is in itself an entertaining watch. Others are even convinced to read the book and buy advanced tickets to the November 22 worldwide premier.
