Vlogger drinks gasoline, sets self on fire
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — How far would you go to gain popularity on social media?
For a man in Calinog town in Iloilo, going viral on various online platforms is worth putting his life at serious risk.
In a video uploaded on Sunday, the man who calls himself Boy Tapang ng Calinog held cut-up plastic bottles filled with gasoline.
He drank from one and poured the other on his body.
The video then shows him touching a lighted stick and setting his body on fire.
Then, he fell into a shallow dugout on the ground.
In 44 seconds, the video was over.
A day after being uploaded, the video had gained 1,300 reactions, 1,100 shares and 167,000 views.
The man, before executing the stunt, reminded children not to imitate what he was doing, saying it is done only by a content creator.
Yesterday, another video was uploaded showing his burnt body. The caption called for support and financial assistance for his recovery.
Maj. Myles Dieron, Calinog police chief, said they are investigating the vlogger’s stunt.
