Super Junior's Kim Ryeo-wook set to tie the knot with former TAHITI K-pop member Ari
MANILA, Philippines — Super Junior's Kim Ryeo-wook surprised fans with the announcement of his upcoming marriage to his longtime girlfriend, Ari, a former member of the K-pop group TAHITI.
The news, shared through a handwritten letter on his Instagram account addressed to his fans, collectively known as E.L.Fs (Everlasting Friends), came as a surprise on Friday.
He started his personal letter by thanking his supporters, remembering their journey together since his debut with legendary K-pop group Super Junior in 2005.
"I come with news that I wanted to deliver personally to my dearest friends, E.L.Fs who always cheer me on and send me love with all your hearts. So I'm writing this letter in the hopes that my sincerity will reach you," Ryeowook wrote on Instagram.
The Super Junior member then shared the news of his upcoming May wedding, expressing his longing to start a family with Ari after their years together.
He assured his fans that the decision was made after careful thought and discussion with his company and fellow Super Junior members.
"As you all know, I have been seeing someone. After spending much time with this person, I naturally began to feel that I wanted to form a family with her," Ryeowook said.
"It was by no means a sudden decision, and after much thinking and deliberation with the company and my members, I have decided to hold a wedding ceremony this spring, at the end of May," the K-pop idol added.
Even as he starts his new married life, Ryeowook stressed his dedication to his music career, promising to keep performing as Ryeowook of Super Junior.
He thanked his fans, fellow Super Junior members, and SM Entertainment staff for their ongoing support.
"Still, I intend to greet you unchangingly as Ryeowook of Super Junior and Ryeowook who sings for all those who will cheer me on when I stand on stage with my members and for all those who want to hear my singing," Ryeo-wook
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our members and the SM Entertainment staff for cheering me on in my decision," he added.
Ryeowook's marriage to Ari follows their public acknowledgment of their relationship in September 2020.
The K-pop idol is the main vocalist of Super Junior and its subunits Super Junior-K.R.Y. and Super Junior-M.
Ari, formerly known as Kim Sun Young, debuted with TAHITI in 2012 and remained active until the group disbanded in 2018.
