Curtain-raisers:
• Now it can be told: It was me, as a new board member of the body behind the Walk of Fame (pet project of the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno), who nominated Lolit Solis (photo) as one of the honorees at the event set for Dec. 1 at Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City. I felt sad that Lolit politely declined (“To avoid controversy,” she said) and nominated Ethel Ramos (Dean of Movie Reporters) who also politely declined. Anyway, like other Kapuso talents, Lolit has already been “immortalized” on the (Side)Walk of Fame around the GMA Studios. “Tama na ‘yon,” said the co-host of the sorely-missed Startalk (hu-hu-hu!!!).
• The whole industry is looking forward with bated breath to the announcement on Friday, Nov. 18, of the Magic 8 official entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). More than 30 films have been submitted for consideration and have already been previewed by the MMFF Screening Committee. For sure, producers of eight lucky entries will jump with joy while the rest will shed quiet tears (or, knock on wood, raise a howl of protest).
• Could it be true that the ex-actress-girlfriend of a popular action-drama actor is expecting their second child (the first is an aspiring actor)? This piece of (good) news must come as a surprise to those close to the un-couple who know that the actor has been linked to a few women after he broke up with his legal wife. Remember the case of Paolo Paraiso and Mylene Dizon who had their second child after their separation? That’s what happens between the action-drama actor and his ex-girlfriend who comes to visit every now and then from abroad where she lives.

Four days after Pres. DU30 was prevented by, according to Malacañang, an attack of “migraine” from showing up at the launch of TV5’s Go Negosyo last Friday in Davao City, the presidential turf, show host Kris Aquino has learned to shrug off what she described as an “epic snub.”
Perhaps it was a humbling experience for the still-reigning Queen of All Media who revealed that she went on a crash diet for what would have been a “historic” encounter between the former First Sister and the country’s first loose-tongued president who must have been really tired after arriving the night from a visit to Malaysia (with side trip to Bangkok to pay his respects for the late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej).
“It is good to be the underdog,” Kris texted Funfare yesterday, probably hoping (as she wished on that TV5 show that she managed to host with her usual unique style) that someday, somehow, “President Duterte, please give me a chance. I hope one day, mamahalin mo rin ako.”
Did the “epic snub” so affected Kris that, as she hinted on her Instagram the other day, she might again go on an extended vacation abroad with her sons? “I will give them time to miss me,” she posted.
Happily, Kris will remain at home. She is set to spring a big surprise on everybody with a “big announcement” (a big “comeback,” sort of) about her maiden venture with Tony “Mr. T” Tuviera who is co-managing her with her soul mate Boy Abunda (he takes care of Kris’ endorsements).
Okay, we will let Kris make us “miss” her until that “epic” event that, promise, will “stun” us.
Until then, Dear Kris!
