NTC orders radio stations to play OPM

MANILA, Philippines - Pursuant to Pres. Benigno Aquino III’s recent directive to strictly implement Executive Order No. 255 (Series of 1987), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued Memorandum Order No. 003-08-2010 dated Aug. 15 to further emphasize strict adherence to the E.O.

E.O. 255, issued by former Pres. Corazon Aquino, requires all radio stations with musical format programs to broadcast a minimum of four OPM compositions every clockhour. 

The NTC also sent a letter to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas reiterating the need to adhere to the contents of the said order and furnished the KBP copies of E.O. 255, its Implementing Guidelines as provided for under NTC Memorandum Circular No. 4-07-88 dated March 1988 and MC 08-11-2005 (Reiterating Compliance by All Radio Broadcasting Stations with EO 255, Series of 1987).
