MANILA, Philippines — Vehicles of the Quezon City government are on standby to assist passengers who may be stranded during the three-day transport strike organized by Manibela beginning today.

In an advisory yesterday, the local government said its free QCity bus program would continue operating on eight routes connecting major areas in the city.

“Other vehicles from local government agencies are also on standby in case passengers need these,” city hall said.

Personnel of the Traffic and Transport Management Department will also be deployed to assist motorists and passengers who may be affected by the transport strike.

Manibela had announced a three-day transport strike starting today to protest alleged irregularities in the government’s public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

The group slammed the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s data on the number of operators and drivers who have consolidated for the PUV program.
