MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has chosen Robinsons Magnolia as the venue for its Earth Hour 2025 celebration.

The partnership encourages businesses and residents to switch off non-essential lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on March 22, in a collective effort for a sustainable future.

“When we switch off our lights, we do more than conserve energy – we are taking a stand against the rising greenhouse gas emissions fueling climate change,” Mayor Joy Belmonte, a United Nations Environment Program Champion of the Earth awardee, said. “It’s a simple act that reminds us of our impact on the planet and the need for urgent action.”

The event at Robinsons Magnolia will start at 4 p.m.

Belmonte will lead the  lights-off activity together with other city officials and representatives of Robinsons Malls.

“This collaboration reflects our strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” Joel Lumanlan, Robinsons Malls vice president and head of operations and marketing, said.

Robinsons Magnolia has been recognized for its sustainability initiatives, winning the Sustainable Shopping Center Design Award from the Philippine Retailers Association in 2024.
