Darryl Yap faces cyberlibel raps over 'Paloma’ teaser

MANILA, Philippines — Two counts of cyberlibel have been filed against Darryl Yap before a Muntinlupa court over his upcoming film on the late actress Pepsi Paloma.
In an information dated March 17, the city prosecutor’s office indicted Yap for libel in relation to Republic Act 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The charges stemmed from the teaser of Yap’s movie, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma,” which was released on Jan. 1.
The city prosecutor said the scene defamed actor and television host Vic Sotto.
The fiscal’s office recommended bail of P10,000 for each count of cyberlibel.
Sotto filed 19 counts of cyberlibel complaints against Yap in January.
